The THL Place Dictionary provides information about all varieties of places in Tibet and the Himalayas, in past and present times—nations, provinces, counties, monasteries, villages, mountains, natural regions, and more. It currently includes contemporary administrative units in China with Tibetan populations and administrative units in Nepal. At present, there is limited lengthy descriptions of individual places, but we have extensive materials that we will be importing into the Place Dictionary throughout 2010.

In 2010 we are adding historical data, including Tibetan monasteries, with an initial launch set for June.  Technically, we are also working at integrating the Place Dictionary into THL's multimedia holdings, so that it wil show associated images and audio-video for each place. We plan to launch this in the coming summer.
